Welcome to my academic(-ish) book reviews. The definition of Academic is as relating to education and scholarship. I say 'ish' as the reviews will be anything related to reading books for my Ph.D., my job in higher ed, or anything I might throw under the topic of education/learning. For example, I used to work in the museum world, so a book on art or curating might fall into academia even though it differs from my field.
Currently, on my bookstagram, I post reviews of fun light reads on Sundays. My favorite genres are cozy mysteries, sports romances, historical mysteries, and anything magical. I read so many academic books; why not show both sides on my IG? So, I'll post mini reviews on IG and more extensive reviews here on Friday.
It may take a few weeks for me to figure out my voice for reviews. I've been complimented on my note-taking for my books for my compressive exams, but that's quite different. For those, I write out the thesis, then create a list of bullet lists with quotes, paraphrases, and short one-line notes for each chapter and post 'professional reviews' on a page in OneNote. I'll take this technique and the book review format and create something I can easily use.
Enjoy the reading journey with me!
